Modern metal with a modern story. At First has once again opted for a science-fiction theme for their latest track. This time their new song is about cryonics; freezing people in order to bring them back to life in the future. The new track is released on all major streaming services.
In recent years, At First has developed a modern metal sound. Electronic influences, varying vocal techniques and heavy guitar riffs are the fundament, with science-fiction themes regularly appearing. This also applies to the new single, named Cryo. Ambient sounds are dominant in this new song, creating an icy sound.
This is something that fits well with the theme of this song. Cryo is about cryonics, a technique that freezes people to be brought back to life in the future. Thousands of people are currently registered for cryogenic freezing. These cryonicists hope that they can be frozen after death and brought back to life, once science has found a method for this. Interesting science-fiction, but what if these experiments went wrong?
In Cryo we follow a person who is frozen alive, but remains conscious due to a mistake. What happens in your head when you’re frozen for decades? This science-fiction horror story is produced, mixed and mastered by Kevin Sneijers, guitarist and singer in the band. The other band members are: Jamie Jochems (lead singer), Youri Valentijn (guitarist), Barry Bressers (bassist) and Ramses van Rijsewijk (drummer).
